Hi and welcome to Happinesspages.com. This is me, Pauline Oliver, (the one without the poncho)
....and if it wasn't for the other guys I would never have made it to the top of Huaynupicchu - the peak behind the renowned Machu Picchu in Peru.
Everyone needs a little help sometime. Ulysses (kindly took this photo)) and his family (in ponchos) encouraged me all the way up the hundreds of very rugged steps cut into this mountainside to 11,000ft above sea level. I met him on the way up and he graciously allowed me to practice
my elementary Spanish too.
Was it worth it?
You bet! One of the most amazing places I have visited - words cannot describe the magnificence, wonder and spirituality of that ancient Inca City Machu Picchu.
How this website came about.
Life will set you challenges, seemingly with little choice in the matter....and you usually overcome them. My Peru trip was my own personal challenge - to liberate myself from the bonds of fear and opression.
Mid-life crisis it may have been, but after a ten year struggle to reclaim family life lost to depression, melancholy and an abyss of irrefutable negativity, something had to give!
On return from Peru my newly born grandson greeted me (only 1 day old) and I spent much of the rest of that year in Spain, having left my job, my home and my old life.
It wasn't until April 2008 when surfing the net I came across Sitesell.com
Building a website offered me the flexibility, creativity and new direction I was looking for. Furthermore Sitesell offered me the means, the tools, the learning and the support, all in one package. I previoulsy owned three domain names, but with no idea how to get started, I let them lapse.
Mother of two beautiful daughters and five grandchiildren, I turned my back on a 22 year teaching career including specialist peripatic advisory service and Special Educational Needs.(SEN)
In those ten years I qualified as :- Touch for Health, Balanced Health Kinesiologist
- Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
- NLP Coach and LIfe Coach.
I remember it being such a revelation that I had control over what I wanted in my life. Until then I'd pretty much accepted life as it came, though I believe I have a good decision-making strategy for the bigger picture of my life.
Several achieved goals later, I examined my beliefs and values around life and my future. I adopted a core value to do those things that make me happy.
So when it came to building my site it seemed only natural to want to spread a little happiness and help others to escape into the light. Thus Happinesspages was born.
You will find some of my travel photos sprinkled through this site. I hope you enjoy them.
When things get me down I have a favourite quote (from Chesney Hawkes' song) that pop into my head and keep me focused, upbeat and on track -
"I am the one and only, nobody I'd rather be"

P.S. I wasn't the one depressed, but you can't help but be affected by it.
