Declutter with Feng Shui.
How to declutter successfully and become effective at organizing home - that is the question?
CLUTTER is low, stagnant, confusing energy, that drai...ns
energy from you. Is it any wonder it has such a paralysing effect?
How to declutter my home? Fengshui, the art of placement to achieve harmony, places particular emphasis on these 3 parts of your home.
- How to De clutter the bedroom.
This space is your most personal and intimate. We are most influenced by the people closest to us. Additionally this area needs to be restful and relaxing.
- Clear all clutter from under the bed
- Organise all wardrobes, closets, drawers being sure to let go of any clothes, accessories or items you have not used for a long time.
- Remove items that create visual or energetic clutter or that do not ideally belong in the bedroom. This should include the TV, office and exercise equipment and work related.
- How to Declutter the kitchen.
In Feng Shui the kitchen represents your health, in particular the liver, the main detoxifying organ of the body. You know I always think it makes such logical sense - the kitchen as the place of nourishment. After all food and water are life's essentials.
- De-clutter the refrigerator.
- Clean the cooker, pots and pans and utensils.
- Clean out all the drawers, surfaces, light fittings
- Ideally let go of harsh chemical cleaning agents and replace with natural ones
- How to De-clutter the main entrance to your house.
Feng Shui calls this the mouth of Chi or energy. This area determines the quality of the Chi that enters your home. This space says a lot about you too.
- Keep it clear and remove any objects that do not belong
- Deal with incoming mail - provide a small drawer or box for it rather than have it invade the space
- Make it beautiful, light, airy and welcoming.
- Keep only in-season items in your main entry hall or cupboard.
To declutter is to create space and energy flow in your life
- to allow freedom, movement and
room for 'new energy' to flow into that space.
- It is a healing, renewing and energising mental and physical activity.
- It promotes a sense of achievement, success and acceptance.
- Its rewards are intrinsic.
What Stops YOU and ME Decluttering?Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful."
-William Morris
- Nostalgia and sentiment, procrastination and perfectionism are the enemy and root cause of the clutter problem. Not forgetting those 'I'll do it my way' types too.
- ADHD and Dyspraxia - adults have it too. Organization difficulties are characteristic of these conditions and most adults have not been diagnosed. They have never considered there is a biological reason for their disorganization. They suffer needlessly and therefore do not seek appropriate help.
Often a person with ADHD will feel totally overwhelmed by a large task and the mere thought of it will cause stress and distress. It will
have them running for the hills. I know my husband is one of them! How to help them get started? Read how to help your child organize their bedroom.
- Living in the past, hanging onto those momentos, those memories of days gone by - special days maybe, but they're gone.
When are you going to find the time to look for that football match programme, the faded card, let alone ponder over them.
- The procrastination mindset - putting it aside until tomorrow, those jobs to finish, items to repair and bills to sort. Tomorrow's time is eaten up by todays indecision and incompletion - and the next...and the next...
- Then there's the 'don't touch anything I know exactly where it is' mentality. This is an excuse for never having to organise
or tidy - piles of paper, un-labelled plastic bags and discarded boxes filled with anything other than the original merchandise.
It takes them an age to find anything at all, unless it happens to be on the top of the pile ...now was it the pile on the piano or the mantelpiece?
Fact: No matter how many cupboards, rooms, attics, sheds, workshops, garages or greenhouses you may have - stuff tends to find its way into them...and its probably down to YOU to keep it under conrol.
So be careful what you wish for. That longed for super-size kitchen with additional storage space may end up being nothing more than a gadget and 'gismo' storehouse.
Need more help setting goals. Schedule that first 15 minutes with yourself NOW. Select a space.......organise your reward and........ ready, set, go.
Do it. Declutter NOW!
