Write a Gratitude Journal - and Life Keeps on Getting Richer
A Gratitude Journal is a simple yet amazingly effective personal development tool that will uplift and enlighten you, making life not only bearable, but a real pleasure.
What do you already have that you are grateful for. It shouldn't be a difficult question, but it is. Think harder...there must be lots surely?
And yes I know that you may feel you have NOTHING to be grateful for right now. When you are feeling down and life gets in the way it takes
a lot of strength to find the inner resources to change it for yourself.
You critical inner voice tells you:
- why should I be grateful, I worked hard for it
- my life has always been ....., I deserve a little happiness
- I didn't ask for it, it just happened
A Gratitude Journal will change the way you look at life.
Did you know that something really magical happens when you start to acknowledge and be
thankful for, those things you already have.....especially the little things that you take for granted.
This magic takes you into a more loving, peaceful state of mind, and revives that wonder and joy you felt as a child. Remember when the world was that mysterious place where anything was possible.
Back then dreams were dreams still and you could play at being anything you wanted to be...rich, famous, an astronaut,
a fireman, opera singer, or Lord Mayor of London. (Or was that just Dick Whittington in Pantomime.)
Keeping a Gratitude Journal is ever so simple...and you get to smile at least 5 times a day.
Imagine all those happiness endorphins flowing through your brain as you manage a smile. It could be the first time you've smiled for ages. Go on it is worth the effort! And hey, anything is worth a try ...better than the misery you've been putting up with.
Can You Spare Yourself 5 Minutes a Day?
You don't even need paper and pencil if you're lucky enough to own an iPHONE as a Gratitude app is now available!
1. Commit yourself to 5 minutes a day (me time) - you want to be happier don't you?
2. Write down 5 different things you are grateful for each day. REPEAT NOTHING
3. Smile as you write - remember those happiness endorphins.
4. Write WHY you are grateful. Or write 5 words that you associate with the subject of your gratitude.
Here's what will happen as you sit there, ready and poised to write your very own Gratitude Journal :
Day 1. You'll be thinking really hard ...and it may seem impossible, but You will find them though - remember your commitment to being happier.
Day 2. Getting easier already. Your brain is beginning to become pre-programmed to find 5 NEW things to be grateful for.
Day 3. It just keeps on getting easier - that pre-programming really works. You've NOW found 15 things to be grateful for.
Day 4. 5 MORE things, 5 more reasons
Day 5. and another 5 ...and so on
As you continue you will notice a change as you start to feel grateful in the moment, as the event happens or the thought pops into your head.
This is the magic of gratitude. The world seems a more magical place and good things are getting even better.
Keep it going for at least 21 days (the time it takes to create a new habit) and even then ..why stop?
Life has even greater potential for happiness. You've just proved that to yourself over the past three weeks
Imagine how much more there could be!
If you have a more positive and optimistic attitude, people will respond to you in that way too. No wonder life gets better, your outer world will always reflect back your inner world.
And the people you care about will be EVER SO GRATEFUL too!
