July 2008 Happiness Poems surely must include friends.
Having great friends is extremely important in being happy.
My Happiness Friend
The thoughts that spring to mind of you, are of flowers in the sun And the sounds I hear around you are of laughter and of fun And it feels that deep inside you there's beauty and a grace And everytime I think of you, a smile comes to my face
There are some who have a loving and a tender spirit too You care for other people, in return they care for you Your heart goes out to everyone, it's easy now to see God made you my hero, someone I would like to be
You've a gentle, warm and tender touch, a kind and loving word Your wisdom and encouragement the best I've ever heard You're the greatest friend that I could have, someone in whom I trust A friendship blessed in heaven...and sprinkled with stardust.
To a kind and loving friendship...may it last forever. Pauline Oliver
July 2008 Endorphins are chemicals in the brain that lead to feelings of euphoria. This Happiness poem looks at how to be happy.
Happiness Is Fun
Happy is as happy does
When all is said and done
Truly being happy
Starts with having fun
Set those happiness endorphins free
To flood your stressed out brain
With lots of happy thoughts
To relax and ease the strain
Eat chocolate
And laugh-a-lot
Chew chilis hot and red
Wear bright colours instead
Keep a dog or a cat
Try yoga on a mat
Feel sunshine warm your being
Seek beauty for the seeing
Classical music wins by miles
Exchanging lots of smiles
That's how to raise your spirit
Lift your body and your mind
This daily dose of happiness
Is a pleasure - you will find.
Pauline Oliver
You can DECIDE to be Happy. This Happiness Poem tells you HOW.
It's Up to You
Decide to be Happy
It’s your right
Seek what brings you pleasure
Be peaceful
Do not fight
Decide to be Grateful
It’s the way
Give and you shall receive
Say thank you
Every day
Decide to be Loving
It’s their right
Tell family, friends and pets
I love you
Hold them tight Pauline Oliver
This Happiness poem was inspired by
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).Body Language
Sadness makes your heart sink
Happiness lifts it higher
Despair paints your life black
Hope reaches out a hand
Worry makes you agitated
Calm soothes your brow
Fear turns you to jelly
Courage stands you firm
Anger makes your blood boil
Peace stills the mind
I know which I prefer
And....
Humour makes you chuckle
Friendship makes you giggle
Love makes you tingle all over Pauline Oliver
25th January 2009.
This Happiness Poem is dedicated to my mum.
The Old East End
Jellied eeels, pie and mash
Tastes of the Olde East End
That bloomin' Rhyming slang
Don't it drive you round the bend
Pearly kings and queens
Dressed to go to town
Doing the Lambeth walk
Or Knees up Mother Brown
Spitalfields, Billingsgate,
The Mile End Road,
Market folk and 'Barra-boys'
Shift their heavy load
Ha'penny, thrupenny bits
Tanners, farthings or a bob
Half-a-crown, two-and-six
Ta....Just the job
This is my heritage
Mum was London born and bred
Her dress was made of parachute silk
On the day she was wed
Air raid sirens, Nissan huts,
Bombs in the blitz
Home guard, Land army
'Dig for England' Brits
Outside Loos, London Smog,
Gangsters like 'the Krays,'
But to her they are lovingly,
'Them Good Old Days.' Pauline Oliver
This Happiness Poem looks at
making Happiness your goal.
To Be Happy Is Your Goal
A friendly smile, a kindly wave
A cheery disposition
To cultivate happiness every day
Shall be your new found mission
Hold only thoughts that serve you well
And banish all the rest
They have no place inside your head
This will surely prove a test
Fight bravely on and steel yourself
For your goal is crystal clear
One day you'll steadfastly affirm
Only Happiness lives here Pauline Oliver 23rd July 2008
A happiness poem about pets. Do you realise how owning a pet contributes to your health and happiness.
Happiness is Pets
Happiness is a pet With feathers, scales or fur A parrot who talks back I bet A cat, she will surely purr
A dog will get you out And can even guide your way Meeting people round about Chasing balls and sticks to play
Horse will take you far and wide Trusty steed and rider unite Through town or countryside View life from a different height
Keep snake and tortoise in a vivarium
A hutch for guinea-pig or rabbit Tropical fish in an aquarium But beware Piranhas habit
Whichever pet is right for you To love, clean, groom and feed There's always plenty for you to do Give them the attention they need
And what for you in return you ask Oh - happiness from all above Their greatest gift they give to you
Their UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

2nd January 2009.
While Winter is not my favourite season, this Happiness Poem reminds me of the use of metaphor to put things into perspective.
Happiness Weather Metaphor Poem
Sunlight glimmers through frosty winter windows,
Golden sunbeams dance upon the floor,
To herald the changing seasons,
Better weather to come for sure.
This constrast reminds me of life's ups and downs
Bright sunny smiles and cold frosty frowns
The weather is a force of nature
Over which we hold little sway
It's how we respond to it that creates our day
Love, hate or tolerate, it's attitude that counts
Conflicting beliefs and values, then tension mounts
Hghly-strung or placid, alkaline or acid
Sharp-tongued, silver-tongued, quick-witted, fun
A cocophony of personalities, different each one
While the forces of nature truly impact
In human relationships it's how we react
There if you choose it, remember to use it -
Assertive, not aggressive. protect personal space
Dignity, humility but do not lose face
My preference is sunshine, yet yours may be snow,
Stormy tempests your passion, or hurricanes that blow,
Rain, hail and sleet, or puddles under your feet -
They are all outside influences which take our attention
In daily (British) conversation, usually worth a mention
Consider the elements of this metaphor
Let your most resourceful attitude shine.
Dress appropriately for the weather
And your outlook could truly be fine
Pauline Oliver
March 21st 2009 Winter can seem endless. This Happiness poem welcomes the signs of Spring.
Spring Happiness
Breeze-blown daffodils nod consent
Turn their faces toward the sun
Drinking in light and solar warmth
Surely now Spring has sprung
Apricot blossom adorns the tree
Like fairy petticoats pink and white
Peacock butterfly and bumble bee
Gather sustenance for their flight
No place to hide in trees still bare
But from lofty perch on high
Birds sweet song on airwaves borne
Tell nesting-time is nigh
And still to come Spring's majestic unveiling
Shy buds burst forth in pride and glory
An explosion green draping branches bare
New growth, new life, new expectations
...Spring's story
