If I Turned Out Like My Mother

by Jean
(Surrey)

If I turned out like my mother
Would it be such a bad thing
She's a pretty nifty dancer
But for sure she cannot sing
She can cook and bake with ease,
Barbecue, braise, stew and roast
But fine dining, haute cuisine
Well, you may not raise a toast
She kept the family well-fed.
Taught us brilliantly how to get by
Now she surely has her limits
But there's lots that she would try
A working mum - four kids to raise
Balanced her money and her time
Keeping everything together
Keeping everyone in line
She likes to be kept busy
Hates sitting doing nowt
Enjoys a show, a meal, a drink,
An entertaining evening out
If I turned out like my mother
Would it really be so bad
One fly in the ointment
Forty years married to my dad!

(Only kidding dad)
