Happiness is Like Planting Daffodils

'I wish I'd planted some daffodils? ' my daughter said to me. It was the first day of Spring I seem to remember.

Ah yes, Daffodils - golden yellow trumpets displaying like a chorus line nodding their heads in agreement. Such sunny golden flowers - daffoldils, synonymous with spring, renewed growth, energy and a promise of warmer weather and sunshine. (I do prefer the natural look and it was a bit cold when I took this photo. )

Spring is one of my favourite times of the year...
the days are brighter,
the skies a little bluer
and the whole earth is awakening to a new show of colour and beauty.

Gone are the cold dark days of winter and the sleepy hibernation to which we succumbed.

Happiness can be a lot like planting daffodils.

Happiness in the moment is fantastic. Always remember to acknowledge it, smile to yourself and say thankyou. If each of those moments was a flower then what a beautiful bouquet you would have.

Just like planting daffodils, happiness sometimes needs nurturing and you have to put in a little work to reap the later rewards. You have to set the bulb in place with loving care and tenderness...then wait. Oh so much reward for so little effort. Such joy and happiness!

So, get out your calendar and pencil in some happiness moments to look forward to. Better still - add it to your vision board.

Here's a tip from NLP: To help it come to fruition.

  1. Run a video in your head of you doing whatever it is you plan to do.
  2. See in detail, looking out through your own eyes what is around you,
  3. Turn up the colour and the volume.(keep it within your comfort level, but enough to make you feel great.
  4. Hear in detail the sounds around you
  5. Feel how happy you are.
That's what successful people do. They envision is tremendous detail - like the great gardeners planting daffodils to achieve exactly the display they want.

Include your loved ones 'cos they're part of your happiness. Remember the daffodils growing together! Or take time away from the maddening crowd. It's up to you. Whether it is one month, a year or several years down the line, be sure to build some 'daffodils,' - golden sunny moments, into your calendar.
